If School is Preparation for Life...

. . .then how can we use the activities and assessments in our classes to actively involve students in the life they are being prepared for rather than leave it to chance that students will make the school-life connection? Get and share ideas for how you and your colleagues can identify worthy, long-term overarching objectives that apply well beyond the content of an individual lesson or unit. Then, learn how to be creative, deliberate and selective in the learning experiences you design to move students in the direction of those long-term outcomes. In the process, consider how to support students in connecting what they are learning to challenges and opportunities in their school, local and global community.
